Agriculture Enhancement Program

Applications will be accepted for these practices June 1st through August 24th.

Hay and/or Pasture Re-Seeding: The method of re-establishing adapted and/or compatible species, varieties, or cultivators of herbaceous species suitable for pasture and/or hayland.

  • Planting dates are August 15- September 30.
  • Flat rate of $65/acre. Eligible up to an accumulative of 75 acres of hay and pasture per FY 19 Program Year.
  • Soil tests are required to apply. Test must be less than 3 years old.

 Field is ineligible if:

  • If pH is less than 5.6
  • If P levels are below: 12 lbs./ac, 6 PPM or 28 lbs./ac of P2
  • If K levels are below: 76 lbs./ac, 38 PPM or 92 lbs./ac of K20.

Hay and/or Pasture Establishment:  The method of establishing adapted and/or compatible species, varieties, or cultivators of herbaceous species suitable for pasture and/or hayland.

  • Planting dates are August 15- September 30.
  •  Flat rate of $125/acre. Eligible up to an accumulative of 50 acres of hay and pasture per   FY 19 Program year.
  • Cannot be previously in hay or pasture ground.
  •  Must be maintained as hay and/or pasture for a 5 year lifespan.
  • Soil tests are required to apply. Test must be less than 3 years old.
  •  Field is ineligible if:  SAME AS HAY AND/OR PASTURE RE-SEEDINGS

Lime: Assist with the maintenance of cropland, hayland, pastureland, vegetables and/or orchard.

  • Cost share is 50% not to exceed $20 per ton.
  • Producers are eligible up to 75 acres per FY 19 Program year.
  • Soil test is needed to apply. Test must be less than 3 years old.
  • Practices must be completed by December 14th, 2018.

 

Chesapeake Bay Program

Heavy Use Protection Area – The stabilization of areas frequently being used by livestock and/or    vehicles. Can be used for the following: Livestock watering areas, livestock trail and walkways, loading and unloading areas, and post-harvest processing areas.

  • Flat rate of $1.32/sq. ft., not to exceed $2,000 per producer.
  •  Practices must be completed by December 14th, 2018.

Cover Crops: Must follow a row crop.  Producers are eligible for up to 100 acres.

 Cost share rates are as follows:

  •  $50/ac. by October 5th
  • ·$40/ac. by October 18th
  •  $30/ac. by November 9th

Stream Protection (livestock exclusion): The permanent exclusion of animals from a stream.

  • Cost share is 90%, not to exceed $8,000 per FY 19 program year.
  • Must have livestock in stream to qualify.
  • Practices included fencing, watering systems, stream crossing, and riparian buffers.
  • Practices must be completed by June 14th, 2019.

 Divisional Fencing and watering trough: The installation of fence to facilitated handling, movement and feeding of livestock in a pasture environment. Fence will be used for rotational grazing, it is to be used to sub-divide current grazing fields.

Cost share is up to $5,000 per FY 19 program year.

  •  Must have livestock to livestock to qualify.
  •  Practices included fencing, watering systems and pipeline.
  •  Practices must be completed by June 14th, 2019.
