Established in August of 1944, the mission of the Southern Conservation District is to provide local self-government leadership and initiative in the development and conservation of soil, water and related resources. A balanced planning, education and management program that protects, restores, and improves those resources will be accomplished in cooperation with landowners, government agencies and private organizations.

The Southern Conservation District is pleased to announce the Agricultural Enhancement Program (AgEP) for Fiscal Year 2027, featuring an updated application window from May 18, 2026, to May 29, 2026. This year’s program introduces several critical changes, including a single application period for all practices and a new cancellation policy regarding participant eligibility. We have expanded our available practices to include Winter Grazing and Invasive Species Management, alongside ongoing support for lime, nutrient management, and fencing. To qualify, all applicants must be a Southern Conservation District Cooperator and provide a current FSA Farm Map with their submission.
