Farm Field Day and Workshop The Greenbrier Valley Conservation District and the West Virginia Conservation Agency will be hosting a farm field day and workshop on June 30, 2016, beginning at 5pm, at the Bill Canterbury Farm in Sinks Grove. Mr. Canterbury has recently installed an intensive rotational grazing and livestock watering system with assistance from the WVCA Agricultural Enhancement and Clean Water Act 319 Programs. During the workshop, we will tour this system and explain how it works not only to protect water and soil quality, but also to increase the overall production of the farm. Dr. Ed Rayburn and Dr. Darin Matlick of the WVU Extension Service will be there to explain the forage system and to discuss the new Veterinary Feed Directive. The farm is located in Monroe County on Rt 3, 3.4 miles west of Pickaway. This event is free to the public and dinner will be provided; however, we do ask that you RSVP to the Greenbrier Valley Conservation District at 304-645-6173, if you plan to attend. |
