Land Judging and Homesite Evaluation Contest
Attention 4-H and FFA Members and Advisors! The Greenbrier Valley Conservation District and the Southern Conservation District, in cooperation with NRCS, will hold a Land Judging and Homesite Evaluation Contest on May 3, 2018 at the Plant Materials Center in Alderson. Registration will begin at 9:30am and the contest will begin at 10am. Lunch will be provided at no cost to participants. To register your teams, please email a list of all participants no later than April 25, 2018 to lwoods@wvca.us. Conservation Program Feedback Meeting - 1/18/18 |

Conservation Program Feedback Meeting The Greenbrier Valley Conservation District in cooperation with the West Virginia Conservation Agency will be hosting a farmer workshop to obtain feedback about their current conservation cost-share programs. This includes the Agricultural Enhancement Program and the Clean Water Act Section 319 Non-Point Source program. The Meeting will be held at the State Fair of WV, WVU Building on February 22, 2017 at 6:30 PM. Dinner will be served. Please RSVP if you plan to attend. Just for Kids! Poster Contest - 1/18/18 |

Poster contest deadline EXTENDED TO APRIL 17, 2018 Due to schools having been closed for work stoppage and snow days, the deadline for the GVCD Poster Contest has been extended to April 17, 2018.
GVCD Conservation Poster Contest The Greenbrier Valley Conservation District (GVCD) is participating in the Poster Contest sponsored by the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) and the West Virginia Association of Conservation Districts (WVACD). The contest is open to all school aged children in the district, including homeschoolers. Age groups are Grades K-1, 2-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. A trophy will be awarded to the first place winner in each age group, and ribbons will be awarded for second and third place, as well as for any honorable mentions. In addition to trophies and ribbons, winners will also receive a GVCD draw-string backpack. All participants will receive a certificate and small token of participation. District winners are eligible to compete in the state contest and state winners will move on to the national contest. The theme for 2018 is "Watersheds: Our Water, Our Home". Educational tools (power point and handouts) are available to teachers upon request and digital photos of posters will be accepted this year. Deadline for entry in the GVCD contest is April 6, 2018.
