Poster contest deadline EXTENDED TO APRIL 17, 2018

Due to schools having been closed for work stoppage and snow days, the deadline for the GVCD Poster Contest has been extended to April 17, 2018.

GVCD Conservation Poster Contest

The Greenbrier Valley Conservation District (GVCD) is participating in the Poster Contest sponsored by the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) and the West Virginia Association of Conservation Districts (WVACD).  The contest is open to all school aged children in the district, including homeschoolers.  Age groups are Grades K-1, 2-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12.  A trophy will be awarded to the first place winner in each age group, and ribbons will be awarded for second and third place, as well as for any honorable mentions. In addition to trophies and ribbons, winners will also receive a GVCD draw-string backpack.  All participants will receive a certificate and small token of participation.  District winners are eligible to compete in the state contest and state winners will move on to the national contest.  The theme for 2018 is "Watersheds: Our Water, Our Home".  Educational tools (power point and handouts) are available to teachers upon request and digital photos of posters will be accepted this year.  Deadline for entry in the GVCD contest is April 6, 2018.   Contact our office at 304-645-6173, look us up on Facebook, or email Lynn Woods  lwoods@wvca.us for more information.
