Accepting AgEP Applications - 7/13/18

Applications are being accepted for the following Ag Enhancement Practices beginning July 2, 2018 - August 24, 2018.  Approvals will be based on the availability of funds.   

 

LIME:  75 Acre maximum per applicant – 50 % cost share / not to exceed $20.00 per ton cost share.  May apply on pasture or hay ground.  Current soil test required (within 3 years) to determine amount of lime needed.  May not purchase lime or apply to land before application is approved.  Site visit may be conducted to verify practice completion. 

INVASIVE SPECIES:  Cost share rate will be 50% on chemicals and application with a maximum of $ 500.00 per applicant.  If chemicals are self-applied – labor cost may not exceed 25% of total invoice.  Site visit required to verify quantity, location of invasive species and practice completion.  Practice must be complete by May 31, 2019.  List of approved species included on the application. 

FROST SEEDING:  50 acre maximum per applicant.  Cost share rate is $10.00 per acre with a maximum of $500.00.  Only legumes will be included.  Must have PH of 5.6 or above.  Practice must be completed by March 15, 2019 and invoices submitted by May 31, 2019. 

DEER FENCE:  Cost share rate is 50 %, not to exceed $2,500.00.  Fence is woven wire constructed to form a physical barrier eight feet or taller.  Site visit may be conducted to evaluate site and verify completion. 

COVER CROP:  75 acre maximum per applicant.  Cost share rate is determined by date of completion:  $50.00 per acre by 10/10/18, $40.00 per acre by 10/20/18 and $30.00 per acre by 10/30/18.  Site visit may be conducted to verify completion – practice must be completed by 10/30/18.  Seeding recommendations included on application 

HUAP: $1,000 max per producer, $1.32/sq. ft. for gravel pad (walk ways, water troughs.)  NRCS specifications to be followed on the practices

LIVESTOCK STREAM EXCLUSION: $8,000 max/producer. Fence and water development to exclude livestock from water. EQIP cost share rates will be used to base payment. Minimum of 10ft setback, NRCS specifications to be followed on practices.  

HAY RESEEDING:  50 acres maximum. Cost share is flat rate of $50 per acre.  Soil test required / PH must be above 5.6.  Hay ground ONLY

LITTER TRANSFER:  250 ton maximum / $10 per ton cost share / $2,500 maximum cost share per applicant.  Must provide certified wight tickets

Photo Contest - 4/13/18

The Potomac Valley Conservation District is accepting entries for the annual photo contest. 

Photos must be submitted in the following categories: 

"Conservation Practices"; "Close Up Conservation"; "Conservation in Action"; and "Ag / Conservation Across America

Participants may only submit one photo per category.     

1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards will be presented in the "Under 18" and "18 and Over" categories.

Poster Contest - 4/13/18

The Potomac Valley Conservation District is accepting entries for the annual Poster Contest. 

The theme of the 2018 poster contest is:  "Watersheds - Our Water, Our Home"  (should be included on the poster).   

Poster size is 14 x 22 (1/2 sheet of poster paper)  

1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons will be awarded in each of the following categories:  Grades - K-1; 2-3; 4-6; 7-9 and 10-12.
