Sign up for Frost Seeding

The Potomac Valley Conservation District is accepting applications for Frost Seeding.  The sign up period is 11/30/20 - 1/15/21 (as funding allows).  Applicants may apply for a maximum of 75 acres.  Cost share is $10.00 per acre with a maximum of $750.  A current soil test (within past three years) with a PH of 5.6 or above is required, as well as a farm map and w9 tax form.  Only legumes are acceptable for planting.  The practice must be completed by March 15, 2021 and invoices submitted by May 28, 2021 at 4 pm.  Completed applications can be Mailed to:  Potomac Valley Conservation District, 500 East Main St., Suite F, Romney, WV  26757; or Emailed to:  pvcd@wvca.us; or dropped in the mailbox located at the PVCD District office in Romney or the WVCA field office in Moorefield.  For additional information, please contact the PVCD office at #304-822-5174 or the WVCA Moorefield field office at #304-538-7581.  ** SEE ATTACHED APPLICATION

Sign Up for Summer Annual Seeding

The Potomac Valley Conservation District is accepting applications for the Summer Annual Seeding practice.  The sign up period is 11/30/20 - 1/15/21 (as funding allows)  Applicants may apply for a maximum of 50 acres.  Cost share is $50.00 per acre with a maximum of $2,500.  A current soil test (within past three years) with a PH of 5.6 or above, is required, as well as the farm map and w9 tax form.  A list of the approved varieties is on the application.  The practice must be completed by May 28, 2021 and invoices submitted by May 28, 2021 at 4 pm.  Completed applications can be Mailed to: Potomac Valley Conservation District; 500 East Main St., Suite F; Romney, WV  26757; or Emailed to:  pvcd@wvca.us; or dropped in the mailbox located at the PVCD office in Romney or the WVCA field office in Moorefield. For additional information, please contact the PVCD office at #304-822-5174 or the WVCA Moorefield field office at #304-538-7581.  **SEE ATTACHED APPLICATION

COVER CROP SIGN UP

The Potomac Valley Conservation District is accepting applications for cost share on cover crop planting.  The sign up period will be August 27, 2020 through September 10, 2020.  In light of the COVID-19  restrictions and current office closure to the public, producers may contact the District by phone #304-822-5174 or email:  pvcd@wvca.us  to request an application. Or contact the WV Conservation Agency office in Moorefield #304-538-7581 or Ben Heavner #304-590-1898.  The applications will also be available on the District web page:  www.wvca.us/district/pvcd.cfm. AG ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM SIGN UP

The District is sponsoring a Conservation Poster Contest.  The 2020 contest theme is:  “Where would we BEE without Pollinators?” The theme should be included on the poster. Poster size is 14” x 22” (half sheet of poster paper).  Entries will be accepted in the following categories: K-1; 2-3; 4-6; 7-9; and 10-12.  An entry form must be completed and attached to the back of the poster.  Entry deadline is May 22, 2020 and should be mailed or delivered to:  Potomac Valley Conservation District, 500 East Main St., Suite F, Romney, WV  26757.  Contact the District office for additional information at #304-822-5174.

The District is sponsoring a Conservation Photo Contest.  Entries will be accepted for both youth and adults and must be in one of the following categories: 

• Conservation Practices
• Close Up Conservation
• Conservation In Action
• Ag / Conservation Across America

An entry form must be submitted with each photo.  Entry deadline is May 22, 2020 and should be mailed to:  Potomac Valley Conservation District, 500 East Main St., Suite F, Romney, WV  26757.  Contact the District office for additional information at #304-822-5174.

TREE SALE CANCELED

“It’s Time to Order TREES”

     The Potomac Valley Conservation District is now taking orders for tree seedlings.  A variety of evergreens, hardwoods and fruit trees are available.   Orders will be accepted until March 20, 2020, but we do recommend placing your order early to assure availability.   Tree pick up will be held on Friday, April 10, 2020, between 8:30 am – 2:00 pm.  For more information, please contact the District office at 500 East Main St. (Heritage Hills Office Building), in Romney; (304) 822-5174 or by email: pvcd@wvca.us .  Order forms are also available on our web page:  www.wvca.us/districts/pvcd.cfm .
