2026 District Events

Invasive Plants & Weeds Class on July 21 - 7/2/26

Join us for a FREE class on invasive plants and weeds with Gene Hovatter of Higher Knowledge Farms, LLC. He’ll walk you through how to identify common problem plants and what control methods work best. This class is great for landowners, farmers, and anyone who wants to learn more about keeping their fields and woods healthy.

We’re also glad to welcome Terry Jones of Rich Mountain Forestry, LLC. Terry will share helpful information about herbicides and how to use them safely and effectively.

The class will be held at the Tygarts Valley Conservation District office at 16346 Barbour County Hwy, Philippi, WV 26416 on Tuesday, July 21 at 6 PM.

We’ll have refreshments, so we'll need a head count for food. Please RSVP by clicking HERE, and then click “Going” on the Facebook event listing. Local Workgroup Meeting 6pm on Thu, April 9, 2026 - 3/12/26

Your Voice Matters!

Join us for the upcoming Local Workgroup Meeting and share what’s most important to you on Thursday, April 9th at 6:00 PM at the Belington Fire Hall, 55 Watkins St, Belington, WV 26250.

Attendees will identify natural resource priorities in our area and help shape criteria for USDA programs. Refreshments will be provided, so come out and enjoy an evening of discussion and collaboration.

This is your chance to make an impact on conservation efforts in the Tygarts Valley Conservation District, which serves Barbour, Randolph, Taylor, Tucker, and Upshur Counties.
