MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. -- The 5th-Grade Hands On Ag Day event held Sept. 18th and 19th at the Marshall County Fairgrounds in Moundsville was a great example of conservation education in action.
Students visited 11 unique stations that included topics such as dairy products, raising chickens, soil health, apiaries, forestry, growing vegetables and fruits, and raising goats, cattle and horses.
A theme seen on the shirts of Hands On Ag Day volunteers was: "Tomorrow's Conservation is Achieved Thru Today's Education."
The Northern Panhandle Conservation District and the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service partnered with Marshall County Schools and others, who volunteered their time by presenting topics at stations and helping to organize, to put together this year's Hands On Ag Day.
