West Virginia’s Potomac Headwaters Water Quality Report
July 1998 – June 2008


In December 2009 the West Virginia Department of Agriculture released the Potomac Headwaters Water Quality Report July 1998 – June 2008, summarizing ten years of water quality data collected throughout West Virginia’s eastern panhandle. The report focuses on various water quality parameters including: temperature, DO, pH, turbidity, conductivity, total phosphorus, ammonia-nitrogen and fecal coliform. A total of 25,479 samples were collected from 114 sites throughout ten watersheds.

Analyzed watersheds include:

  Anderson Run
   Lunice Creek
   Lost River
   Mill Creek South Branch Potomac River
   North Fork South Branch Potomac River
   Opequon Creek
   Patterson Creek
   Sleepy Creek
   South Branch Potomac River
   South Fork South Branch Potomac River
