Land Judging Contest

Land judging serves as a tool for teaching youth and adults about the use of soil and water. It provides an introduction to the basic science of soil classification. It provides a guided program of study to aid in the understanding of:

1. Basic soil differences as they affect crop production.
2. Different management practices important to proper use of soil and water.
3. The effect of different land features on land use and management.
4. Different soil and water conservation practices.

This event also allows participants to learn about the opportunities available at West Virginia University and more specifically the WVU Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resource and Design, and to interact with the faculty of the college.
