Conservation Day at the Capitol provided an opportunity to discuss priorities, promote districts - 2/15/22
posted by: Davin White

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A legislative reception and Conservation Day were held on Monday, Feb. 7, and Tuesday, Feb. 8, at the state Capitol in Charleston.

On Tuesday, 2021 West Virginia Conservation Farm of the Year winners Jeff and Janet Allen, who own Meadow View Farm in Moundsville, were honored with proclamations and met with Sen. Ryan Weld, Speaker of the House Roger Hanshaw, Delegate Lisa Zukoff and others.

The West Virginia Conservation Agency (WVCA) and the West Virginia Association of Conservation Districts (WVACD) also enjoyed hosting legislators during the reception Monday evening in Building 7, where we shared our priorities for conservation with the senators and delegates.

Senate Bill 264, which makes changes to state conservation district law and has the support of both the Agency and the WVACD, also passed the Senate unanimously on Tuesday.

Earlier that day, each of the 14 districts were represented through banners, informational displays and, most importantly, by many of the districts' elected supervisors who attended Conservation Day activities.
